Increasing Income Domain
The objective of the “Increasing Income” domain is to enable the poor to access markets, resources and manage their natural resource base. The main lines of action include 1) Rural Livelihoods, 2) Micro Finance.
This domain aims at making markets work for the poor, both at individual as well as at the level of the local economy of an area. The emphasis is on strengthening capacities of demand-driven financial services to enlarge the choices of the poor for improved well-being, be it through asset building, income generation, self-employment or business development. In very poor rural areas a broader, natural resource based, livelihood approach is more likely to address the development potential of the poor. However, out of the manifold components that make a livelihood, income generation and access to market are given special emphasis.
