| The objective of the “Improving Governance” domain is to enable institutions and citizens to fulfil and exercise their obligations and rights. The main lines of action include: 1) Rights of women and children, 2) Decentralization and local governance.
This domain aims at making state institutions accountable to the citizens, especially to the poor and empowering the people for participation in political and development processes that affect their lives. These are pre-requisites not only for sustainable development but also for a more equitable society. Therefore, initiatives at national, provincial and district level are supported to enhance accountable, efficient and transparent service delivery, and support the citizens to make use of their rights. Along with this, advocacy and capacity building for the respect of human rights, especially women and child rights, including skills training education and counselling, are important components of this domain.
